Ruben Blignault Gouws (Chairman)
Member of the Audit and Compliance committee
Blignault matriculated at Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria and obtained a B.Sc degree at the University of Pretoria in 1963. He qualified as a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland in 1976. Blignault practiced as a consulting actuary before entering the life insurance industry. Blignault joined Momentum Life in 1983, was managing director of its subsidiary Lifegro and became executive deputy chairman of Momentum Life following the take-over of Lifegro in 1988. Blignault again practiced as a consulting actuary from 1995 until 1999. Blignault served as a member of the Council and also as President of the Actuarial Society of South Africa. Blignault also served on the Management Committee of the Life Offices’ Association of South Africa. He is currently a non-executive director of Momentum Group Limited and a number of its subsidiaries, of Swiss Re Africa Limited and Swiss Re Life and Health Africa Limited. He is also chairman of the Actuarial Committee of Momentum Group Limited.

Louis Norval (Chief Executive)
Educated at Lyttelton Hoërskool, Centurion, Louis graduated in B.Sc (QS) (with distinction) from the University of Pretoria in 1979. Louis was a founding member and senior partner of Norval Wentzel Steinberg Quantity Surveyors and director of Baker Street Associates Holdings (Pty) Ltd. Louis is the CE of ATTFUND Limited and managing director of Parkdev Asset Managers. He also serves on the board of directors of a number of companies. He is a keen golfer and won the South African Amateur Golf Championship in 1979, represented South Africa in Great Britain and France and is a past chairman of Pretoria Country Club.

Francois van Niekerk (Non-executive Director)
Francois was educated at Paarl Boys' High School and attended the universities of Stellenbosch and UNISA. He is chairman of the Mertech Group, Infotech and Attacq. Francois is also a director of the Atterbury Property Group, Sabinet Online and a number of companies in the property and information technology business sectors. He is a founding trustee of Mergon Trust and various community beneficial trusts. Francois is a MBL graduate and Barker gold medalist from Unisa Business School (1973) and a finalist for the L&GV business award from Financial Writers Club, in 1983.

Neno Francois J Haasbroek (Executive Director)
Educated at Grey College in Bloemfontein, Neno obtained a BSc Building Science degree from the University of Pretoria and a MBA at the University of the Witwatersrand. He joined Rand Life Assurance as property manager in 1980 and became Investment Manager of Allianz Life in 1983. In 1985 he co-founded Baker Street Associates, a group that specialised in property broking, development and management. Following the sale of Baker Street Associates in 1994 he relocated to Stellenbosch and concentrated on property development and investment.

Louis van der Watt (Non-executive Director)
Louis van der Watt qualified as a chartered accountant in 1992 and completed his articles at Deloitte Consulting (the Management Consulting arm of Deloitte & Touche) and shortly thereafter secured his CIMA qualification. Having co-founded Atterbury Property in 1994 Louis has grown the group into one of the biggest property developers in the country. |

Frank Michael Berkeley (Non-executive Director)
Member of the Audit and Compliance committee
Frank was educated at the Bryanston High School and went on to the University of Witwatersrand where he obtained his B.Com and B.Acc degrees. He qualified as a CA (SA) in 1982. Frank was Chief Executive Officer of Group Five Residential Division encompassing Group Five Homes, Goldstein Homes and Gough Cooper Homes. He then joined Syfrets in August 1994 as Regional Manager for the Property Finance Division. In 1997 Syfrets merged with UAL and Nedbank Investment Bank to form Nedcor Investment Bank Limited. Frank was the Divisional Director of the Property Division of Nedcor Investment Bank Limited. With the merger of Nedbank/NIB/CoGHB/BOE during October 2002, Frank became the Divisional Director of Nedbank's Corporate Property Finance Division. On 30 June 2004 he became the Managing Director of Property Finance, Nedbank Corporate. He is also a director of Sycom Property Fund Manager Limited, managers of Sycom Property Fund, Acucap Properties Limited and S A Retail Limited.

Gary Steinberg (Non-executive Director)
Gary matriculated at Northview High School in Johannesburg and then obtained a B.Sc (QS) at the University of The Witwatersrand in 1979 and has since practiced as a quantity surveyor. He is currently a member of the Association of Quantity Surveyors and registered QS and is a director of Norval Wentzel Steinberg - Quantity Surveyors. He has been involved with most of the regional shopping centers constructed in South Africa in the last 25 years. Gary won PMR Golden Arrow Awards when he was rated the "Most admired individual QS in SA" in both 1999 and 2000, the only time such awards have been made. He is an avid Golfer and was vice president on the Transvaal Automobile Club in 2002.

Nazeem Khan (Non-executive Director)
Nazeen Khan was educated at Athlone High School in the Cape and attended the University of Natal (Durban) where he obtained a B.Sc (QS) degree in 1981. He is currently a director of the firm Bham Tayob Khan Matunda Quantity Surveyors, which is a nationally based practice. He serves on the committee for SAPOA-Western Cape Charter and represented the chapter on the listed company Brimstone and chairs the Audit Committee. He enjoys playing golf and tennis.

Sisa Ngebulana (Non-executive Director) Sisa matriculated at St John’s in Umtata, obtained his B.Juris degree at Fort Hare, LLB at Natal University and LLM at RAU. He did his articles with Jan. S de Villiers attorneys in Cape Town and was admitted as an attorney of the Cape High Court.
Sisa spent seven years with Eskom as Legal Counsel specializing in Finance and had a stint in Treasury as trader money and capital markets, then structured finance. Here Sisa had various advanced management programs and extensive finance training courses and programs.
Having obtained an estate agency certificate during his studies Sisa sold various homes as a student, culminating his opening of the first black commercial and retail leasing agency in Cape Town in 1994. With his family business background Sisa started and ran various businesses and earned his stripes through some misfortunes which failed and some successful ones. In 1999 Sisa formalized and consolidated his business interests under Billion Group. Sisa was chosen and awarded the honour as Entrepreneur of the Year, 2006, in the Eastern Cape. |

Gary Vogelman (Non-executive Director)
Chairman of the Audit and Compliance committee
Gary Vogelman was in the employment of Arthur Andersen & Co from 1998 to 2003. The first three years in accounting and auditing and the last three years in the tax department. From 2003 up to the present date he’s been with Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc (previously Sonnenberg Hoffmann Galombik).
His early experience was in the external audit and risk management of clients operating in the financial services, finance, retail and manufacturing industry in both South Africa and the USA. After completing his articles at Arthur Andersen, he worked for a short period in San Francisco, auditing hedge funds, private equity funds and venture capital funds. After his return to South Africa, he moved into the tax department of Arthur Andersen and Associates. Before the collapse of Andersen, he moved to Sonnenberg, Hoffmann & Galombik with the rest of the tax team. In October 2006, SHG merged with Edward Nathan, creating the largest law firm in Africa with the largest tax practice of all the law firms in Africa.
Through his experience and training, he has gained in-depth knowledge of property investment and development, financial and company law, legal consequences of merger transactions, investment funds, structured lending and investment arrangements, securitisations, long term insurance investment arrangements and OTC and exchange traded derivatives which have enabled him to advise clients on complex tax issues and solving seemingly insurmountable tax problems.
He is a member of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and an Executive member of the South African Chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association. He holds a B Bus SCI, Honours (Business Finance) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town and was admitted as a Chartered Accountant of South Africa in 2001.
